Train your personnel and give criminals no chance!

Criminals use stolen bank and credit cards – often several times – with the aim to getting hold of goods that they can easily sell.

They prefer to use these cards as tills where they can sign for goods.
Sometimes stolen credit cards are forged, i.e. they are deformed under heat and given unsuspicious card data. The criminals present these cards at tills where they only get a receipt and use them for purchases under the approval limit so that the purchases are not checked with card companies.

Police tips for EURO 2008

Avoid problems by observing the following tips: 
  • When accepting credit or debit cards be aware of your security – cards and signatures are only acceptable for regular customers! It is recommended that above a certain level of purchases you switch to the securer, albeit more expensive procedure, of entering the PIN code.
  • When accepting credit cards try, where possible, to only use tills with direct connections to the banks.
  • If in doubt have the customer present additional forms of identification when paying by card and note the details.
  • In case of suspicion contact the bank or credit card Company of the customer and if there are discrepancies reject a card payment for security reasons. 
  • If you see am obvious attempt at fraud phone the police on 117 immediately.
